Our Thoughts
Our 2023 Paper Planes rosé marks our 10th vintage of this wonderful wine. Made of 100% Pinot Noir fruit from the Windsor Oaks vineyard in the Russian River Valley, our rosé is always fresh, crisp, and lively, with exceptional texture not found in most rosés. We harvested this wine nearly a full month later than our typical vintages from the past decade. The aromatics on this wine are out of this world - freshly zested lemon, peach blossom and white flower. It's simultaneously super tart and fresh while also being truly substantial and complex with a long finish.

Our Thoughts
The 2021 Paper Planes Pinot Noir comes from our longest-tenured vineyard, the stunning Windsor Oaks Property, nestled in the Chalk Hill region of the Russian River Valley. After harvesting from two distinct blocks on August 17th, we destemmed and hand sorted the majority of the fruit, leaving about 25% to ferment as whole clusters. The stems added a beautiful texture to this delicate and nuanced fruit.
After pressing, we allowed the pinot to complete ML, and aged the wine in neutral French Oak barrels for nine months, before bottling on May 25th, 2022. True to our style, this pinot focuses on balance, with beautiful aromatics of bright red fruits, lively acidity, and an overall charming and ethereal profile.

Our Thoughts
The 2023 Paper Planes Valdiguié comes from dry farmed, head trained vines on the Carty Ranch property in the Suisun Valley AVA. A rain-drenched Spring and cool growing season allowed us to harvest our Valdiguié a full month later than usual. This vintage we destemmed the majority of the fruit, aiming for a more rounded wine while still harnessing the signature electric feel our Valdiguié is known for. This wine was delicious right away, so after a quick five months ageing in neutral French Oak barrels we bottled on February 28th, 2024. This vintage is a love letter to anyone who enjoys those punchy flavors that make your mouth water, your eyes brighten, and forces your body to do a little happy dance.

After a two year hiatus our club member favorite Pet Nat is back!
Made from Pinot Noir grapes from the 2023 vintage, our Pet Nat was natively fermented with no sulphur added and bottled before primary fermentation was complete on October 2nd. Disgorged and hand labeled eight months later in June 2024. With bright acidity and a pale color almost reminiscent of a white wine, this sparkling wine is a party in a bottle.
Only twenty cases produced, this limited wine is available online in three packs and at The River Club by the bottle. Trust us, this one will sell out before the holidays so get it while you can!

Paper Planes Nero d’Avola - SOLD OUT

OUR THOUGHTS
The 2022 Paper Planes Nero d’Avola comes from the newly planted Clayton Vineyard in the Suisun Valley AVA. After harvesting on September 2nd, we destemmed 100% of the fruit, which we fermented with native yeasts. The fruit spent a leisurely 14 days going through a gentle primary fermentation. We achieved a delicate extraction of flavor and structure via daily pumpovers. After another week of extended maceration to smooth out this wine, we pressed off of the skins using a manual basket press.
After aging in neutral French Oak barrels for 8 months, we blended in ~10% Grenache to complement the beautiful acidity and structure of this wine.. Another two months in barrel so the blend could get cozy before bottling on August 9th, 2023. This wine has been a longtime dream of ours. We both have our roots on the island of Sicily, and the wines of that beautiful place speak to our souls. We love the balance of bright red fruit, brilliant acidity, and surprising complexity.
